Things Parents Say

Ha, tricked you again. You thought it was gonna be scary but it wasn't.

Before we begin, IF YOU ARE READING THIS POST BECAUSE YOU ARE BROWSING BLOGS CHECKING OUT WHICH ONE'S YOU'RE GOING TO VOTE FOR IN THE BLOGGING CHALLENGE, I'D REALLY APPRECIATE IT IF YOU'D CONSIDER THIS ONE, NOT BECAUSE IT'S THAT GOOD BUT BECAUSE I NEVER WIN ANYTHING PLEASE I'LL GIVE YOU NO MONEY BECAUSE I'M BROKE BUT IT WOULD MAKE ME EXTREMELY HAPPY SO THANKS.  (Sorry for the caps, but it's important people get the point.)

Things parents say. You can probably relate.

1. Because I said so.

Wow good one mom you really knocked me speechless with that one. Have you ever considered being a lawyer? I'm sure if you just got up there and the judge was like, "Ok why is your client not guilty?" you could just pull one of those, "because I said so," zingers out and SHABAM. The jury would probably all take a gasp and look around at each other, the defendant could just walk out the room and no one even cares cause you really showed them. Good one mom, good one.

2. Watch your tone.

Oh I'm sorry, I wasn't aware ANSWERING YOUR QUESTION was "giving you attitude." And it's not my fault that sometimes I'm sassy, it's just part of being a diva.

3. Stop being so dramatic.

My Mom -   *coughs as if she's a little baby owl sneezing or something*

My Mom -  "well i guess i have throat cancer did you guys hear that i probably should lay down before i pass out im in so much pain you guys really should be nicer to me i have throat cancer who knows how long i have left i think you need to clean the whole house for me so ill remember you fondly from heaven im dying"

4. I do everything around here.

Excuse me I just came home from school 20 minutes ago to find you taking a nap while I did my homework, walked the dog, and did the dishes. What were you saying again? (I'm not kidding about that either. It's not an unusual thing for me to come home and my mom is taking a nap.)

5. Is your homework done?

Will you buy me a car? Oh we're not asking silly questions we both already know the answer to? My mistake.

A tip for a swaggy fun weekend: Don't get hit by a car.

Thank you and goodnight New York Citayyyyyyyy.

*Headbangs my way out of the room playing the air guitar*

Awkwardly Awkward

Hi there children, how are you today? Today hasn't really been a good day for me, but then I was like, "Bro, stop being sad and go write a blog post for all your cute little friends and then you will feel happy." So that's what I'm doing. (And then I also remembered, hey, at least I'm not Amanda Bynes.)

As you know, (At least I should hope you know...) the name of this blog is Awkwardly Awkward, and if you've ever met me, you know why. But just for some laughs, I am going to revisit as many of my outstandingly awkward moments as I can remember for you today. Swag.

A few weeks ago I was walking in the hall with my friend, approaching a few stairs, and there was this exceptionally cute boy coming up the stairs. So he looks up at us and casually is all like, "Hey guys," and then for some reason, I think it would just be the perfect moment to fall down the stairs. He laughed and walked away. Smooth Jackie.

Another time, I was talking to one of my friends, just having a normal conversation, and then for no reason at all, I just drooled. Like I can't even- what? I'm 15 years old and I can't have a conversation without drooling. So that happened and at first I didn't think he saw, I was just like, "no big, play it coooool," but then he looks at me for a second and was like, "......did you just drool?" Then I ran away.

And I'm just getting started.

I also have this weird habit, where I don't finish sentences. Like, I'll start a sentence, and then just stop and act like I never said anything. Then when people ask me what the end of the sentence was I can't tell them because I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT THE END OF THE SENTENCE WAS. I start saying something but then I realize it doesn't make sense or I just don't know what to say, so I stop and hope no one notices. But occasionally they do, and then are like, "Hahah what....?" And then I just nervous laugh until they go away.

Then there was that one time I wrote "Buckie Jackman" on a homework assignment instead of "Jackie Buckman."

One time this guy called me pretty (don't look so surprised), and I didn't know what to do, so I said Happy Birthday. Happy freaking birthday.

During Spring Break last year I was in Mexico, and so I go out to the beach and I, for some reason, act like I'm some sort of pro dancer and start ballet leaping all over the place. Right up until my top flew off.

I don't know if anyone but me has ever noticed this one, but I can't sit or stand like regular people. My posture varies from 'Hunchback of Notre Dame' to 'My spine is a steel pole' and there's no in between, and I always have my hands out in front of me like I'm some sort of meerkat.

And then there was the one time I was in the grocery store, and I had wandered off and lost my mom. So I'm just wandering the aisles all alone, and then, because my brain has something wrong with it, I decide to start trying to do the jerk. I proceeded to slip and fall on my butt and I hear someone go, "Oh! Are you okay?!" I turn around and there's this little old lady standing behind me, and I resort to my panic solution, to nervous laugh and run away.

Day of a Jackie

First of all, I want to start of by letting you all know that I think Demi Lovato is a fearless, flawless, perfect little bamf.

And sometimes I listen to her beautiful Camp Rock songs.

(By "sometimes," I mean daily.)

Today I figured I would write a nice little blog post for you peasants about a typical Jackie day, so you can have an idea of how I live. I don't know why I thought you would care about my life.

First thing that happens to me, is my alarm goes off. Every single morning without fail, it takes me a minimum of 9 minutes to understand what is going on and that my alarm is even going off. It like gets incorporated into my dream or something.

Then when I get my act together enough to understand that my alarm is going off, I go through all the things in my head that must be done before I go to school, and I rank them in order of importance. Then when this is done, I figure out how many I can forfeit for extra minutes of sleep. Some frequent examples would include...

  • Doing my hair
  • Picking out a non-homeless person looking outfit to wear
When I finally throw myself out of bed, I proceed to pick out something to wear. It is either something swagtastic and fearless, accentuating my edgy, girly-girl, mermaid, gnome, fairy, biker, boho, hipster style, or it looks like I need to be nominated to go on What Not To Wear.

I proceed to go downstairs to my bathroom (Which is weird because there is a bathroom right next to my room, but for some reason that one belongs to my sister and the one on another level belongs to me.) and brush my teeth and do my hair. Generally, the case is that I stayed in bed too long and have to do my makeup at school before class. Don't judge.

Following this I go through three hour and 45 minute long classes (See Thoughts During School to find out what goes on in my head throughout these,) until it's lunch time. Then I go to lunch and sometimes cry tears of joy because I just love food so much. Food is like an emotion that I feel in my soul.

After that we go to one more class and then I get on my bus and sit alone and listen to music. Alone. Surprise surprise.

When I get home I look for food, but since we never actually have any real food, I usually just make myself some toast.

I feel like this is getting boring... Oh well. Sor sor.

Then I sit around and play on my iPod until it's time to go to lacrosse practice. I refuse to do any homework before I go to lacrosse, and I don't really know why, but I do.

Swagalicious lacrosse practice is the time when I go hang out with all my swag gnomes and we play the game of lacrosse. Swag.

Then when I get home I stay up until 11:00 hating myself for not doing some of my homework before practice when I should've. And then I fall asleep and dream weird Jackie dreams and do it all again the next day.

Guys I'm really sorry that this post sucks as bad as the Boston Red Sox (Go Yanks!). I am just a gnome. What more can you expect of me?

OH and also, home lax game. Today. 6:15. Matt Knoop Memorial Park.

Be there or be square.

You'll probably be square because I'm putting this up a few hours before the event, but now we're even. You didn't come to my lacrosse game, I didn't give you a good post. Love you. Meow, bye.

Thoughts During School

Hahahahahah ahh I'll bet that was unexpected. Happy Thursday you little meatballs of wonderful. This evening, I have a lovely post for you. It is entitled, "Thoughts During School." For all you, um... slower.. children, this means tonight I will be sharing some of the things I think during prison- I mean school.

At school:

Me as I'm about to walk past someone coming in the opposite direction : oh god do i smile at them or just not look at them what if i smile and they dont smile back i'll look stupid maybe i won't make eye contact but wait that's rude and if i don't smile it will just be an awkward stare oh god what do i do

Me: Can you move?

Me: Is it really necessary to stop right there in the middle of the hallway so you can hug?

Me: Jackie you're just jealous cause no one hugs you

Me: Shut up self, you're such a brat. Besides, we're the same person.

Me: You know what they don't teach in school? Real stuff. Like, I'm sure glad I don't know what the heck a mortgage even is, but when the time comes, I'll know how to use the Pythagorean Theorum. (Just kidding I don't know how to use the Pythagorean Theorum)

Me: Okay well if my mom doesn't have to know the capital of Lithuania, I shouldn't have to either.

Me: Hungry

Me: Hungry

Me: Hungry

Me: Hungry

Me: Oh.My.God. I hate her. Girl thinks she can just come up in this classroom and start breathing. What, she thinks she owns the place or something? No. Get out.

Me: I wish I had friends

Me: What day is it

Me: I hope they have chicken nuggets for lunch

Me: Is it legal to marry food?

Me: Maybe I should stare at my crush

Me: What? You're so stupid. That's the worst idea I've ever heard. How could that possibly turn out well?

Me: I don't know! I just have ideas ok? They aren't always perfect.

Me: I wish I had an endless supply of money

Me: I wonder if it's legal to own a tiger cub as a pet

Coke or Pepsi

Hello my earthlings. I love love love posting for you guys so much cause you are so phenomenally outstandingly stupefyingly amazing and make me feel so warm and fuzzy on the inside. So on the bus ride home today (I do a lot of thinking on the bus) I brainstormed some ideas for posts, and one of them I'm going to do, right here, right now.

I was thinking we could play some Coke or Pepsi?

I'm hoping it's gonna turn out  more entertaining than it sounds now that I'm writing it down.... whatever. #YOLO

1. What is one word that describes you?

Spicy

2. Coke or Pepsi?

Ok like, I've never understood if that was even a real question. Like, is that some sort of joke? Why would anyone ever chose Pepsi? Pepsi is like Coke's ugly younger cousin who can't get a date to the dance. Like, no Pepsi, stop trying and please go sit in your corner.

3. Mood?

Right now I'm feeling pretty.......ummm calm I guess.

4. Favorite Song?

What is my favorite song as of late? Hmm. Well actually I haven't been able to get "Catch My Breath" by Kelly C out of my head, but "50 Ways To Say Goodbye" by Train never really gets old to me. Oh and obviously any TSweezy or JB, but that goes without saying. Also I love love love Cassadee Pope; covers and original. Oh and of course He is We. And The Fray. And One Republic.

5. Glamorous or Casual?

If you say casual you are lying to yourself

6. Beach or Mountains?

Beach. BeachBeachBeachBeachBeach. That might be cause I'm part mermaid.

7. Messy or Neat?

Well I mean, I would like things to be neat, I just don't want to be the one to have the task of making them neat.

8. Extrovert or Introvert?

Wait is extrovert the people one and introverts the loner one? Well I'm a Jackievert, and that's the cool type.

9. Dreamer or Do-er?

Dreamer. The last time I ever did something was never.

10. TV or Book?

Cat

11. Do you wish on stars?

The real question is, do stars wish on me?

12. Believe in love at first sight?

Yes? I see food all the time...

13. Dog or Cat person?

Okay, now you're all jumping to the conclusion that I'm a cat person, but you're wrong. I love dogs too. I'm neither type. I'm just an animal person.

14. Vanilla or Chocolate Ice Cream?

Cheesecake frozen yogurt with cheeckcake bites and grahmcrackers. Don't tell me what to do.

How To Avoid Dying

Alright, so this morning I was on the bus, and I was like 'Jackie, if you were ever in a life threatening situation, you are so clever and smart and creative you would probably live.'  And I realized that everyone might not feel as confident in their abilities to survive bad situations like that, so I wanted to help out and give some examples of situations and how to react and stay alive. You're welcome.

If a crazed serial killer ever breaks into your house, get up to your room and climb into your laundry hamper and then burry yourself in the clothes. If you went into a house to serial kill someone, you would never think to look in the laundry cause why on earth would they be in there! Problem solved.

If you are ever kidnapped while on a mission to save the world or something, and are thrown into shark infested waters, just pull a Jenna Marbles and slap a landshark hand fin on your back. Since you are in water, that will then be considered a watershark which is just a normal shark. Then, the sharks will think you are also a shark, and not eat you.

Always carry a pot of honey with you if you ever go hiking. Imagine you're just hiking along and you see a bear and the bear sees you and starts running at you because he hates you and wants to eat you, just whip out your handy dandy pot of honey and he'll be mesmerized by the honey and not eat you. That's because bears love honey. Also make sure you give him the honey to eat and then while he's eating the honey, just get on his back and tame him. Because then you would have your own tamed pet bear and you would get all te girls because who wouldn't want to date someone with a pet bear? Then, you and your pet bear could grow old and look back and laugh on that one time he wanted to maul you but you gave him honey and tamed him.

If you are ever walking alone in a dark alley and a group of really sketchy looking guys with scratchy looking beards come up with black fitted beanies on, keeping yourself safe is simple. All you have to do is make sure that spiderman is in love with you and is watching your every move and them BAM he'll be there in a flash to beat up all the scary people and then you can kiss whilst he is hanging upside down. Duh.

The last situation I'm going to teach you how to survive is if someone you like ever tries to talk to you. See I've found a method over the years that works quite well. For example you are just being your awkward self and they come up and say, "Hey." Do not panic. Simply look for the nearest fire alarm, pull it, and then run outside with the rest of the school. Then, next time you see them, be like "ha ha wow crazy fire the other day hu?" and they'll be like "yeah it was!" and you be like "yeah there really was no fire, I just pulled the alarm because you're hot." POOF. Now you have yourself a boyfriend. (I've also seen it end in the crush giving you a weird look, nervously mumble-laugh something and walk away quickly, but that's only happened every single time I've ever tried this method.)

Now you all kinda owe me one since I just saved your lives like five times. I accept chocolate. Thank you very much.

Bieber Fever

It's no real secret that I'm deeply in love with Justin Bieber. And really, I don't think people understand exactly how much I love him. They probably have an idea, but I like, LOVE him. A lot. Hardcore Belieber.

Anyway,

On Saturday, January 5th, 2013, I saw him live in concert in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Just take a minute to process that.

WE WERE IN THE SAME ROOM TOGETHER.
It was the best day of my whole life.

So during the day, I was with my BFF Natalie. Natalie used to live here and she moved away, but we have biannual visits. I don't know if biannual means two times a year, but I hope it does, cause that's what I meant. (I promised Natalie I would blog about her, but I won't go into much detail right now because she is getting her own separate post.) So anyway, we were at her hotel and she helped me get all ready. I had to look perf. We are getting married you know. So I bought my Wal-Mart acrylic nails, slapped those on. And then I attempted to put on fake eyelashes for the first time in my whole life. The first one turned out pretty good, but the second one was just a mess. I got lash glue all over the actual lashes an then they all clumped together and dried and I couldn't get them apart. Plus, I glued it to high up on my eye so one of my eyes had an eyelash with like 4 large lash clumps glued to the middle of the eyelid. Scrapped those and just went with my own real eyelashes.

And the shirt I had was just prime time. Natalie had given it to me for Christmas.

And it's so warm

Then I left to go meet Abi (you all know Abi from my Fatday Friday Post). Natalie didn't go because we didn't know she would be here when we got tickets. Plus she's not in love with him like Abi and I are.

The concert was at Energy Solutions Arena, so we drove down the canyon having a pre concert jam sesh to JB. Well actually, we didn't drive, our moms drove, but same thing.

Classy in the O'Shucks bathroom

More pictures, 'cause we're cute

Anyway, when we got to the concert, we ran as fast as we could inside, cause we were already a few minutes late. But it was okay cause all we were missing was the opening act. (No offense to Carly Rae Jepsen. I enjoy a mean 'Call Me Maybe' as much as the next person).

But after she was done, we waited like 50 minutes before Justin came on. Later we found out that he was late because he had spent the day with a little girl with Leukemia at Primary Children's Hospital since she couldn't use her tickets because she got sick again.  He's such an angel.

Basically, then he came out, I cried, he sang, I cried, he spoke, I cried. I did a lot of crying. Happy crying though, don't you worry. I also did a lot of jumping and dancing and rocking out.
The show was so cool, they did a lot of really amazing stuff with videos and fireworks and all that jazz.

We had amazing seats thanks to my Aunt Linda! She's not actually my aunt, but she's a really close family friend so I just say she's my aunt. Anyway, she works for Larry H. Miller, which owns the Energy Solutions and the Jazz and stuff, so she always gets me tickets to things there. For my birthday she surprised me with the tickets. We were sitting on the left side in the lower bowl, 11 rows up from the floor.

From our seats with no zoom
*fangirling*

And then they played One Less Lonely Girl. For those of you that aren't Beliebers or just don't know what goes on at a Justin concert, his crew goes out and picks one girl from the audience to go up on stage, get a crown of flowers put on her head and be serenaded by Justin. I tweeted him and his crew 42 times where I was sitting to be the OLLG, because Justin said in an interview that that was what we should do if we wanted to be the OLLG. Sadly, it wasn't me, but it was my old baby sitter and current lacrosse teammate Caitlin's best friend that she went with. Lucky Duck

(So actually, I didn't really know her at all, but I knew someone who did know her, and through Jackie-rationalization, that means I knew her.)

ahhhhhhh

It was such an amazing night. I would give anything to relive it. But you can all mark my words, one day he will love me. That's a promise, and I never break my promises.

Pizza and Halloween Candy Aren't Good Pre-Workout Snacks

So incase you were not aware, I quite enjoy playing lacrosse. Contrary to popular belief, I do not lay on the couch with a bag of chips in my lap ALL year long. I only do that for most of the year. But alas, pre-season lacrosse conditioning has begun. I have this nifty little calendar that tells me what I have to workout every day, that my coaches so generously put together and gave us all at the first pre-season meeting this past Wednesday night.

On top of that, this conditioning is self-mandated, so I had the task of figuring out how in the world I'm going to make myself have the self discipline to do all the fun things. So I was pondering this, and I had this idea come to me. Like a vision. When I am running and planking and lunging and all that jazz, I think to myself: Jackie. Justin Bieber is at the end of this run. He is waiting for you. Are you going to give up now, let him down, and spend the rest of your life alone?

Needless to say, I then run like heck.

Yesterday was the first day of these festivities, and I learned quite a valuable lesson. If you have done nothing but lay on your bed and watch TV for four months, and then go try to run 2 miles at 6 mph with a stomach full of pizza and leftover Halloween candy, you WILL throw up. (And people in the gym bathroom will most likely suspect that you are bulimic or something.)

Also, if you go four months doing nothing, and then go do a bunch of core and lower body strength exercises, you will not be able to get out of your bed in the morning. Like, physically not able, because your core (or in my case, abs of steel) are extremely sore and you cannot move. Just a heads up.

And! The other thing about this fun schedule that I now have, is that I have workouts every single day of the week except for Wednesdays and Sundays. Umm, excuse me, but what the heck? Do I look like I have time to go workout? I'm kind of busy watching TV. Thanks anyway though.

So, thats how my Thursday went. I'll keep you all updated. And feel free to go ask some of my fellow teammates how their training is going. They would be: Claire, Livi, and Maddie. They may try to discount this whole post by calling me out on how I make these sound a lot worse than they are. Don't listen.

My life for the next month. #yay

List of Thankful-ness

I never really know how to start these things, so you'll have to excuse my abrupt-ness. Thinking of clever openings isn't really my thing.

It is almost Thanksgiving, as many of you may know. And I like Thanksgiving. But I was thinking to myself recently, and I was like, "Jackie. The only reason you like thanksgiving is because you can eat like a trucker and no one really cares." I got to thinking, and I decided to make myself a list of 10 things that I'm thankful for, and what better place to do it than on the internet for all to read? So here you are, my list of Thankful-ness  (I'm gonna apologize in advance for the sappy-ness, I'm usually not the happy cry because I just love everything type but I was feeling somewhat sentimental)

1. The first thing I am Thankful for, is my family. Honestly, sometimes I really do not like them at all, but I'll always love them no matter what. They love me and support me. And I guess that's all you can really ask out of a family right?

2. The second thing that I am thankful for, are also part of my family. We are not related by blood, but my friends are like, my favorite people in the whole world. My friends know how to cheer me up, make me laugh, calm me down, and fire me up. They understand me more than anyone else and they never let me down.

3.  The third thing I'm thankful for, is my music. I do not know what I would do without my music. Like seriously, I'm like a mental patient and it's the only thing that makes me sane.

4. Number four is my living status. You know, my house, and food, and clothes. All that jazz. Cause really, it would not be fun to not have that stuff, and a lot of people don't. So I'm lucky that I do.

5. Fifth thing I'm thankful for is my education. School stresses me out and sometimes I really hate it, but I do really appreciate the fact that I get an education

6. The sixth thing on this list, would be all of my technology and electronic devices. I probably send like, at least 200 messages a day on my cell phone. Not to mention my numerous daily tweets, status updates, instagram posts, etc. I spend like half my life with my electronics and I'm not really sure how I would spend my time if I didn't have them.

7. I am thankful that I am fortunate enough to be born and raised in a place as amazing as Park City. The scenery, people, atmosphere, and life style here is really awesome. People spend enormous amounts of money to come vist here and I get to live it every day

8. Number eight. I am thankful for my eyelashes. Ask anyone I know, I am not a conceited person, my my eyelashes are some quality lashes.

9.  The ninth thing on my List of Thankful-ness are my pets. I am really thankful that I have my pets. If I didn't have them, I would probably end up talking to myself more than I already do.

10. The final thing on my list, is my ability to dream. My optimism. I would not want to live life if I didn't have those wishes that I hold on to. How boring would it be to get up everyday and not have something to work for, to believe in?

You know, when I think about it, I'm not really good at closing statements either. I'm just kind of an awkward person.

Side Note: I wanted to give you all a heads up in regard to my next blog post. I don't want to say too much, but for a little general idea / hint, you guys can check out this blog called 366 Random Acts.

There's a First Time For Everything

Welcome To My Blog!

I'm just going to be upfront about this first key point here, and that is that I do not know how to blog. I do not know the rules of blogging (well I kind of do because we had a presentation on it in English) and I do not know if this is even a real blog topic (talking about the overall blog topic, not the topic of this post). But nevertheless, I am always up for a challenge and in time, I'm sure I'll come to learn how to blog. But right now I'm sure you're wondering who I am and why I have this blog and what this blog is even about. Well that my dear people, I would love to tell you.

Let's start with who I am shall we? For some reason whenever anyone asks me to tell them about myself, I draw almost a blank. My name (Jackie), how old I am (15 in January, thank you very much), and that I like to sing, play lacrosse, and softball are really the only the immediate responses that come to my mind for this question. But because I want you, reader, to be able to relate to me in some way, I will do a little bit of soul searching. Let's see, I don't like the dark (it scares me), I love roller coasters and cliff jumping and any pretty much any sort of adrenaline rush. I'm not shy at all if I've never met you before and will never see you again, but I am shy if I feel intimidated by you or don't feel comfortable around you. I just might be the most competitive person you ever meet. I daydream all the time. I hate disappointing people. I'm terrified of embarrassment. My favorite TV shows are Pretty Little Liars (because I love the drama and suspense and romance), Criminal Minds (because it just plainly fascinates me), and Modern Family (because it's hilarious.) I love to laugh and I do it all the time. So there you go.

I started this blog as an ongoing project for my ninth grade Honors English class. And the million dollar question: what is this blog about? Well this blog is about the life of a teenage girl. I'm hoping readers in the same demographic as me (girls 13-17 ish) can relate to some of these posts, and others will be entertained by my hopefully humorous series of articles about my life. It is about my life and my story. My day to day happenings that I find internet worthy will all be yours for the reading.

One blog that really inspired me was a blog, also from blogspot, called Story of My Life. The blog is written by Jenni, a 25 year old woman who writes about generally the same topic I want to write about, her life. I really liked this blog for it's content and her voice and personality really shines through.

Another blog that inspired me was called, My Life in Blog Years. I really liked the layout of this blog and how easy it was to navigate around her site.

I'm really excited to be starting this project and hope that you enjoy this blog! Blog you later fellow internet people. Peace.
